Program Details
In this dynamic and hands-on course-- part botany lecture and part hands-on workshop-- we’ll explore the botanical underpinnings for the science and efficacy of herbal medicine. We’ll start out with a basic overview of botany, including plant taxonomy, evolution, adaptations, and identification tips. We’ll then discuss a number of common medicinal herbs, both cultivated and native to western Montana, highlighting chemical constituents, medicinal properties, and the ethics of collecting. Throughout the course, you’ll participate in guided, hands-on herbal medicine making, and you’ll leave the class with two high-quality herbal remedies, handmade and personalized just for you.
Offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Missoula (MOLLI), this six-part course requires advance registration.
